2025 Free Expression Awards

The Free Expression Awards is an annual event that honors First Amendment heroes for their courageous acts of free expression.

This year, we honor:

  • A legendary lawyer for press freedom and free speech who has won some of the most significant First Amendment cases of modern times.
  • An Emmy Award-winning comic and documentary producer who uses humor and satire to showcase diverse voices and speak truth to power.
  • New York Times bestselling author and educator known as “America’s Government Teacher” whose nonpartisan approach encourages the sharing of diverse perspectives.
  • A student-run newspaper providing groundbreaking reporting to the University of Florida and its surrounding community since 1906.

Join us on Wednesday, June 25, to celebrate this year’s honorees, their commitment to free expression, and the First Amendment.
